My neighbor’s kid, he’s always showing off. Last time he came back from the city, he brought back this shiny watch. Said it’s a Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi. What a mouthful, right? Sounds like some kinda fancy soda pop to me. Anyway, he says it’s a real fancy watch, a Rolex. I know it’s a Rolex because he said it more than twice, that kid.
He kept going on and on about the bezel, and how it is red and blue. He said it’s called a “Pepsi” bezel. Like I said before, sounds like a drink. I ain’t never seen a Pepsi that color, but I only drink it one time, and it’s black. I guess this Rolex watch is special. That kid, he sure thinks he’s special with his fancy Pepsi Rolex, all red and blue.
He says it’s from the Rolex official flagship store. Big words for a little punk. Says it’s worth a whole bunch of money. More than my old cow, Bessie, that’s for sure! He says it is very expensive. I don’t know about that. It’s just a watch, right? I use to tell time by the sun. But it’s kinda pretty, I guess. The blue and red, it catches your eye.
He showed me how the hands go around. They move real smooth, not like that old clock in the kitchen that ticks all loud. He said the hands are moving in a smooth way because this Rolex watch is very good. This Rolex watch, it’s real quiet. And he says you can see other times on it, from different places. Don’t know why you’d need that. My whole family are here in one place, that’s all the time I need to know.
He was talking about “markers” too, all them little lines and dots on the watch. Says they’re special, shine in the dark or something. He told me they are special to Rolex GMT-Master II. I guess they make it easy to see the time when it’s dark. That’s handy, I suppose. Don’t have to light a candle just to see what time it is.
But this Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi Bezel, it’s heavy! He let me hold it for a second. Felt like a whole brick on my wrist. He said it’s because it is made of good stuff, heavy means good. He said it’s a real Rolex GMT-Master II. All that good metal, I guess. My old watch, it was light as a feather. Broke after a year, though. Maybe heavy is good. I don’t know.

He said some people try to copy these watches, these Rolex GMT-Master II watches. Make fake ones, he said. They look like it but not really a Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi Bezel. But they ain’t the same, he says. Not as good. Not from the official store, no way. I can’t imagine that. Why go to all that trouble just for a watch? Seems silly to me. If you want the real thing, you go to the real place. That’s what he said. He said you can see it if you use a special light. If it’s not a real Rolex GMT-Master II, it does not shine the same way. I don’t know what he means. A watch is a watch. You only need it to tell time.
He said this Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi, it’s special. It’s like a… a status thing, he called it. Means you’re doing good in life. It means you are rich. I guess that’s important to some folks. Showing off how much money they got. Not my style, but to each their own, I reckon. He said lots of people want a Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi Bezel, but not everyone can get one. It’s too expensive.
He’s a good kid, though. Even if he is a bit showy. Worked hard to get where he is, that’s what his mama says. He said he worked for months to get this watch. Months! I don’t know if I can work for months for a watch. He deserves to be proud, I suppose. And that watch, that Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi, it does look nice on him. Maybe one day I will buy it from him. But I will need to sell all my cows.
So, this Rolex GMT-Master II Pepsi Bezel. It’s a fancy watch, that’s for sure. For fancy folks with money to burn. If you want to buy it, you need to go to the Rolex official flagship store. It is the only place you can get a real one. Not for me, I don’t think. But hey, if you like it, and you got the money, why not? Just don’t go around showing it off too much, alright? Some folks might think you’re a bit of a show-off, like my neighbor’s kid. But he is a good kid. So maybe it is okay.
