Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this OMEGA Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary watch for a while now. You know, the one that’s been all the rage since it dropped in 2020? Yeah, that one. I finally decided to pull the trigger and try to snag one from the official flagship store. It’s not a limited edition, thank goodness, but it’s still super hard to get.
I started by, you know, just casually checking the OMEGA official store every now and then. No luck. Then I started checking more often, like, every day. Still nothing. I even signed up for their email notifications, hoping to get a heads-up if it ever came back in stock. Nada. Zip. Zero.
Then, I got a little more serious. I started calling the store directly. The first few times, the folks there were nice but basically told me what I already knew: “It’s a popular watch, and we don’t know when we’ll get more.” But I kept at it. I figured, hey, persistence is key, right?
- First try: Called the store, got the standard “we don’t know” answer.
- Second try: Same as the first, but the salesperson sounded a little more sympathetic this time.
- Third try: I decided to try a different tactic.
On my third call, I decided to try something different. Instead of just asking if it was in stock, I started chatting with the salesperson. I told them how much I loved the Speedmaster’s history, how I’m a huge Snoopy fan, and how this watch was basically my dream piece. And you know what? It worked! The salesperson seemed to appreciate my enthusiasm. They told me that they couldn’t guarantee anything but that they’d keep an eye out for me.
A few days later, I got a call back. It was the same salesperson from before. And guess what? They managed to get their hands on a “Silver Snoopy Award” watch for me! I was beyond excited. I rushed to the store, paid for it, and now I’m a proud owner.
What I learned
The watch is even more beautiful in person. The silver dial with the blue sub-dials is just stunning. And the movement, the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 3861, it’s supposed to be super accurate and resistant to magnetic fields. That’s all the fancy stuff, and I’m just happy to have this watch on my wrist. It is cool, man.
If there’s a lesson here, I guess it’s that sometimes, being persistent and showing your genuine passion for something can actually pay off. Or maybe I just got lucky. Either way, I’m not complaining!
