Alright, so I’ve been wanting to remake this Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100G-010 watch for a while now. It’s a classic style, you know, pretty sharp looking. I finally got around to doing it, and let me tell you, it was a journey.
First off, I gathered all the materials. Finding the right stuff was a bit of a pain, I gotta admit. I searched everywhere for deals and discounts, coupon codes, anything to save a bit of money, especially when getting rewards. There was an online shop offer with some good deals, but I decided to go hunting for it locally.
I hit up a few local stores that sell watch parts. I found a place that had a bunch of used Patek Philippe parts, even some from the Gondolo collection. They said it was named after some fancy retailer in Rio de Janeiro, Gondolo & Labouriau. Who knew? Anyway, I managed to find most of the parts I needed there. They were all certified restored, which was good. Saved me some cash compared to buying brand new.
Once I had all the pieces, I started putting the watch back together. Now, I’m no watchmaker, just a guy who likes to tinker. So, this was a bit of a learning curve, to put it lightly. I watched a few videos online, read some guides, just to get a basic idea of what I was doing.
- First, I carefully laid out all the parts, making sure I didn’t lose any tiny screws or anything.
- Then, I started with the movement, which is like the heart of the watch. It was tricky, but I managed to get it all assembled.
- Next, I worked on the dial and hands. That was a bit easier, thankfully.
- Finally, I put the whole thing in the case and attached the strap.
It took a while, a lot of patience, and a few moments where I almost threw the whole thing across the room. But, in the end, I did it. I remade the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100G-010. It’s not perfect, of course, but it’s mine, and I’m pretty proud of it. It’s working like a dream, keeping time just fine. It actually looks pretty darn good, if I do say so myself. Feels good to wear something you’ve put your own sweat and tears into, you know?
So yeah, that’s my little watchmaking adventure. It was a challenge, but definitely worth it. Now I’ve got a classic-looking watch without having to break the bank. Maybe I’ll try another one sometime, who knows!
