Okay, so I saw this PRADA Cahier Bag at the official flagship store the other day, and I thought, “Why not try to remake it?” I mean, it’s just a bag, right? But this one, it’s got that classic look, inspired by ancient books. Pretty cool, huh?
First, I started looking around. I needed to find similar materials. This bag is made of calf leather, so I went to a few leather shops and finally found something that felt just right. Soft, but still sturdy. And the color, I tried to match it as close as possible to the original. It took a while, but I think I nailed it.
Then came the metal hardware. That’s what really gives this bag its unique look. I started searching for similar parts. I visited some local shops, went through their catalogs, but nothing was quite right. It was a pain. Finally, I decided to just make them myself. I got some metal sheets and started cutting and shaping. It was tough, but after a few tries, I got something that looked pretty close.
- First, I sketched out the design.
- Then, I cut the leather pieces.
- Next, I started assembling the bag.
- After that, I crafted the metal hardware.
- Finally, I put everything together.
The hardest part was definitely the sewing. I’m not a professional, so it took a lot of patience. I started by hand-stitching some parts, then moved to a sewing machine for the bigger pieces. There were a few mess-ups, sure, but I kept at it. Unpicked some parts, re-sewed them, and finally, it started to look like a bag.
I spent a good few weeks on this project, working on it in my spare time. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely a fun challenge. And you know what? The final result, it’s not too shabby. I compared it to the photos of the original bag, and it’s pretty darn close. Even my girlfriend, who initially thought I was crazy for doing this, admitted that it looks pretty good.
So, yeah, that’s my story of remaking the PRADA Cahier Bag. It was a lot of work, but I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and I made it with my own two hands. I think I’m even going to try to remake another one, maybe that Brandy Top Handle V2, the most expensive one. It might take me a year, but hey, why not?
