This here Prada Galleria Saffiano bag, they say it’s medium size. Medium, my foot! It’s big enough to carry half my kitchen in it. And Saffiano, what in the tarnation is that? Sounds like some fancy disease. But I gotta say, it’s some tough leather. This bag, it ain’t gonna fall apart on ya, no sir.
They got this official flagship store, selling these fancy things. You know, back in my day, we just had the general store down the road. Sold everything from nails to candy. Now, they got a whole store just for these Prada things. Times sure have changed.
Prada Galleria, they call it. Sounds like a place to see some paintin’s. But it is a bag. This leather, they say it’s special. Treat it with something, and put some patterns on it. Make it look all fancy. I guess that’s why these bags cost an arm and a leg. They ain’t cheap, I tell ya.

Now, this other bag I saw, they call it a “Re-Edition”. Like they made it before, then made it again. 2000 and 2005, they say. Sounds like a tractor model number to me. They say it’s a good investment. Well, I reckon anything that costs that much better be a good investment! You could buy a whole herd of goats for that kind of money.
And this one here, it’s got this triangle thing on it. The Prada Triangle logo, they call it. Looks like a piece of pie to me. A mighty expensive piece of pie, I reckon. And they say the color matters if you’re gonna “invest” in it. Land sakes, who ever heard of investing in a bag? We used to invest in seeds and livestock. Things that actually grew and made more of themselves.
I heard these Prada bags come with some papers. Two, they say. One is a Quality thing. Says it’s good quality, I suppose. Well, it better be for that price! And the other is an “Authenticity Card”. Like a birth certificate for a bag! Imagine that. Makes sure it’s a real Prada and not some knock-off, I guess. They even got a little tag inside, with a number on it. Like they’re counting them.
They say these are “Timeless icons”. Icons? We used to have icons in the church. Saints and such. Now they’re putting that word on a handbag? And “new leather bags” with a “modern attitude”. What’s a bag’s attitude, I wonder? Does it sass you back? And they got all kinds. Shoulder bags, mini bags, bucket bags, and those big ones, totes. And backpacks. I used to carry my books in a flour sack. Worked just fine.
Then I saw some other stuff, all made of leather. Wallets, belts. They even put the person who make it, their name on it. And they say you can tell them how to make it special for you, just for you. Some french words in there. Probably charge you extra for that, I bet.
They say these are “Timeless icons”, again. Seems like they like that word. And they got these bags in all sorts of colors. And they say they’re “showcasing” them. Like they’re showing them off. Well, I reckon if I paid that much for a bag, I’d show it off too. They got stores in fancy places. Even in airports. I never been on a airplane.
My granddaughter, she’s always on about these Prada bags. Says they’re all the rage. Well, I reckon they’re something, alright. Something expensive. And this Saffiano leather, it does feel tough. I’ll give ’em that. But I still think I’d rather have a good, sturdy canvas bag. And maybe a few extra goats.
Now, I ain’t saying these Prada bags ain’t nice. They’re just not for me, I reckon. Too much fuss, too much money. But if you got the money to spend, and you like that sort of thing, well, go for it. Just make sure you get that Authenticity Card. Don’t want to be spending all that money on a fake, now do ya?

This whole Prada Galleria Saffiano thing, it’s a whole different world. A world of fancy bags and fancy stores. A world I don’t quite understand. But hey, to each their own, I always say. Just like my grandma used to say, “A fool and his money are soon parted.” And I reckon she was right about that. Still, these bags, they sure are something to look at, ain’t they? I can see my face in that shiny leather. Clear as day!
These Prada bags are sure something else. Not like the feed sacks we used to carry things in. I remember one time, I had to take a whole bunch of eggs to market in a feed sack, had a hole in it I didn’t know about. Egg yolk everywhere, what a mess! This leather, I bet it wouldn’t leak. You could probably carry soup in this Prada Galleria bag and not lose a drop.
I guess folks like these fancy things. They like to carry them around, show them off. Like a prize-winning hog at the county fair. This one time, my neighbor, he had this big ol’ sow, won the blue ribbon three years in a row. He was prouder than a peacock of that pig. I reckon these Prada bags are kind of like that. Something to be proud of. Something to show off. Even if it does cost more than a whole litter of piglets.
