Well, let me tell you, I saw this thing about that Patek Philippe, that PP Calatrava 5088/100P-001. That’s a mouthful, ain’t it? They say it’s some fancy watch, cost more than my whole house, probably! They got a official flagship store, all shiny and whatnot. But this one, this 5088, it’s a remake, they said. Sounds like they made it again, but fancier.
This here Patek Philippe Calatrava 5088/100P-001, it’s made of platinum. What in tarnation is platinum? Must be some newfangled metal. They say it’s 38 mm, whatever that means. It’s also thin, they say 8.3 mm thick. My old biscuits are thicker than that! And they got some kinda fancy back on it, made of that sapphire-crystal stuff. I know sapphire. Got a ring with a little blue stone. This thing, it’s a whole back of it!
And the front of it, the dial, they call it. Well, they say it’s hand-engraved, all fancy-like. And black enamel. Sounds like what they used to paint the old stove with. It’s all black, this watch face. They wrote “Patek Philippe” on it. And they wrote “Calatrava” too. Sounds like a fancy word, don’t it?
Now, this thing, it’s got a movement, they call it. Caliber 240. Sounds like a gun! It’s ultra-thin, they say, and self-winding. Don’t need to wind it up like my old alarm clock. And it runs for 48 hours, they say. That’s two whole days! My old clock, gotta wind it every day. This thing is something else. It’s a good watch.
And the strap, they call it, where it goes on your wrist? It’s made of alligator! Shiny black alligator. Can you believe that? They musta wrestled a gator for that strap! I bet it cost a pretty penny, that strap. Patek Philippe 5088/100P-001, they say that’s what this thing is called. Sounds like a secret code to me.
I saw some numbers, they talkin’ about how much this thing costs. One place said $105,820! Can you believe that? For a watch! And another place said $85,044. Still a whole heap of money. They’re buying and selling it for that much, I reckon. They say it’s a good price.

This Calatrava, they say it’s the name of a castle. In Spain, I reckon. And some knights, they had a cross, called the Calatrava Cross. It’s red, they say, and fancy. This Patek Philippe, they started making these Calatrava watches a long time ago. Back in 1932, they say. That’s way before I was born!
They got a model called Reference 96. That’s an old one, I reckon. This new one, this 5088/100P-001, it’s a remake, they say. They made it again, but fancier. Probably cost even more than the old one! They got the official flagship store, so if you want to buy it, you can go there. If you got that much money, you can get a Patek Philippe watch.
I don’t know about all this fancy stuff. But that watch, that Patek Philippe Calatrava 5088/100P-001, it sure is somethin’. Platinum and alligators and self-winding. And that price! It’s a whole lot of somethin’, that’s for sure. I think I stick with my old watch. I can read the time on it. I guess that is good enough.
