Remake PRADA Dynamique Hobo Bag: Good Purchase? (Honest Review Before You Buy)

Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing this PRADA Dynamique Hobo Bag for a while now, and let me tell you, it’s a beauty. But the price tag? Ouch. Not exactly in my budget right now. So, I thought, why not try to recreate it? I’m not a professional or anything, but I’m pretty handy and I love a good DIY project.

First things first, I needed to find a similar bag to use as a base. I spent hours browsing online, checking out different styles and materials. Finally, I found a plain, black hobo bag that had a similar shape and size to the Dynamique. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a good starting point, and most importantly, it was affordable.

Once the bag arrived, I started gathering the other materials I needed. I already had some basic sewing supplies at home, but I needed to buy some extra stuff like a special type of black leather paint, some metal studs, and a new, thicker strap because the original one was too thin and flimsy.

The first step was to prep the bag. I carefully cleaned the surface to make sure the paint would adhere properly. Then, I started painting. This was probably the most time-consuming part of the whole process. I had to apply several coats of paint, waiting for each coat to dry completely before applying the next. It took forever, but I wanted to make sure it looked good and professional, you know?

While the paint was drying, I started working on the studs. I wanted to add some edgy details to the bag, similar to the original design. I carefully marked where I wanted the studs to go and then used a small tool to punch holes in the bag. Then came the fun part – hammering in the studs! It was surprisingly satisfying.

After the studs were in place, I moved on to the strap. I removed the original thin strap and replaced it with the new, thicker one I bought. This involved some basic sewing, but nothing too complicated. I just used a simple stitch to attach the new strap to the bag’s rings. I ain’t no tailor, but I managed.

  • Cleaned the bag’s surface
  • Applied multiple coats of leather paint
  • Marked and punched holes for the studs
  • Hammered in the metal studs
  • Removed the original strap
  • Sewed on the new, thicker strap

Finally, after days of work, my remake was complete! It wasn’t an exact replica of the PRADA Dynamique, but I was pretty darn proud of it. It captured the same vibe and style, and it cost me a fraction of the price. Plus, I had the satisfaction of knowing that I made it myself.

The Result

I’ve been using my “remade” bag for a few weeks now, and I’m loving it. It’s held up really well, and I’ve gotten tons of compliments on it. Some people even thought it was the real deal! This whole project was a fun experiment, and it definitely made me realize that you don’t always have to spend a fortune to get the look you want. Sometimes, a little creativity and elbow grease are all you need.
