Well, let me tell you somethin’ about this here Patek Philippe watch, the Calatrava 5088/100P-001. It’s a real fancy thing, they say it’s for the specialty stores. Now, I ain’t never been to one of them specialty stores, but I reckon they got all sorts of shiny things in there.
This here watch, it’s made of platinum. Now, platinum, that’s some expensive stuff. More expensive than, I don’t know what, more than anything I ever had, that is for sure. They say it got a price tag of somethin’ like $105,820. Can you believe that? That’s more money than I seen in my whole life!
And then there’s folks out there sellin’ it used, I guess you call it, for like $85. Still a whole heap of money, if you ask me. But hey, if you got that kind of money, you can buy whatever you want, I reckon. Some people buy a new one, some people buy a used one. It is all the same.
- This Patek Philippe Calatrava, it’s a big deal.
- They say it’s a “limited edition.” Only made 10 of ’em.
- That means it’s rarer than a hen’s tooth.
- And the dial, oh boy, the dial!
They say it’s hand-engraved. That means some fella, or maybe a lady, sat there and carved all them little designs on it by hand. Must’ve taken ’em a month of Sundays to do that. And then they put some kinda enamel on it. Makes it all shiny and pretty, I guess. It is black, very black. Very dark, very deep.
They call this model the Calatrava 5088 “Volutes and Arabesques.” I don’t know what them words mean, but it sounds real fancy, don’t it? Probably some French words. Them French folks, they like their fancy things.
Now, I seen pictures of this here watch. It’s got a black dial, like I said, and a black strap. Looks kinda plain to me, for somethin’ so expensive. But I guess rich folks like that kinda thing. They don’t want nothin’ too flashy, I suppose. It is a wristwatch for men. They say it is luxury. I do not know what is luxury. But it must be very good.
This Patek Philippe, they got other watches too, you know. They got them “sports” watches. They call ’em “Nautilus.” I guess them’s for when you’re out playin’ sports, or somethin’. I don’t know. I ain’t never played no sports in my life. Too busy workin’!
This Calatrava 5088/100P-001, it is for sure a men’s watch. I don’t think I ever seen a lady wearin’ somethin’ like that. It is too big and heavy. They got them little dainty watches for the ladies. All sparkly and such. Not like this big ol’ thing. They also have Calatrava 6119. I do not know the price. But it must be very expensive, too.
This watch, it is 38 mm. It is a big watch. And they say it is new in 2024. I do not know how much it cost in 2015. Maybe it is more expensive now.
I don’t know who would buy somethin’ like this. It is a watch. It tells time. Just like them cheap watches you can get down at the five-and-dime. But I guess if you got money to burn, you can buy whatever you want. And this here Patek Philippe Calatrava 5088/100P-001, it’s somethin’ you can buy if you’re a big shot, I reckon.

- Fixed platinum bezel, that’s the ring around the face.
- Black strap, that’s what you put on your wrist.
They say it is a “luxury watch.” I don’t know what that means exactly, but it sounds mighty fine. It is something very good. I think I would be too scared to wear it! Afraid I’d scratch it or somethin’. Then you’d be out all that money! Better to just keep it in a box, I reckon, and look at it every now and then. This is for rich people to wear.
