So, the other day, I finally got my hands on the OMEGA Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” 50th Anniversary watch. Yeah, the one everybody’s been going crazy about. It wasn’t easy, let me tell you. I’ve wanted one of these ever since they announced it. I mean, it’s a Speedmaster, and it’s got Snoopy on it. What’s not to love?
I started by hitting up the OMEGA boutique. I figured that was the most obvious place to start. Of course, they didn’t have any in stock. But, I put my name on the waiting list. This was a while back, when they first announced it. I think it was back in, like, October? The waiting list seemed forever long.
- First, I went to the OMEGA boutique and put my name on the list.
- Then, I waited. And waited.
- And waited some more.
While I was waiting, I did a little more digging. I read everything I could find about this watch. Turns out, it’s the third Speedmaster with a Snoopy theme. There were two others before, one in 2003 and one in 2015, but they were super limited editions. This new one isn’t technically a “limited edition,” but it sure feels like one with how hard it is to get. And I learned this one uses the caliber 3861, just like those fancy Apollo XI models. That’s pretty cool, right?
I also checked out some pictures online, comparing it to the older models. The blue and silver color scheme on this one is just awesome. It really pops. And the little Snoopy on the subdial? Come on, that’s just pure joy.
Anyway, finally, after months of waiting, I got the call. They had one for me! I rushed over there so fast. And let me tell you, seeing it in person was even better than the pictures. It’s a really nice size, fits my 6.5-inch wrist perfectly. I paid the retail price, no crazy markups or anything. It felt good to finally have it.
Getting the Watch on My Wrist
Wearing it for the first time was great. It’s comfortable, it’s stylish, and it’s got that cool history behind it. Plus, it’s a conversation starter. Everybody who sees it wants to know more about it.
Now, I know some people are wondering if these watches are a good investment. I’m no financial advisor, but from what I’ve seen, the older Snoopy Speedmasters have gone up in value. This one might too, who knows? But honestly, I didn’t buy it as an investment. I bought it because I love it. And that’s all that matters, right?
So that’s my story. If you’re thinking about getting one of these, good luck! It might take some time, but it’s definitely worth the wait. Just be patient, put your name on the list, and keep your fingers crossed. You might just get lucky like I did.
