Alright, guys, gather ’round, let me tell you about my latest adventure: getting my hands on a CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with that sweet sapphire crystal – you know, the one with the Cal.3861 movement.
It all started with me just browsing around, window shopping for watches online, as you do. I’ve always had a thing for the Speedmaster, especially the Moonwatch. I mean, who doesn’t? It’s a classic! There is a saying, “The Speedmaster has a strong resale value and is considered a good investment piece, as certain models can appreciate over time.”
So, I decided to swing by the OMEGA flagship store – you know, just to “look.” Yeah, right. Anyway, I get there, and the sales guy, a real smooth operator, starts showing me the goods.
First off, the watch is even better in person. The 39.7mm case is just the right size. They say it’s the same as the old ones, which is pretty cool. It felt solid, like it could take a beating. “Built to withstand extreme conditions, the Speedmaster is robust and durable, making it suitable for everyday wear,” they told me.
Movement
- I learned that the Cal.3861 movement is an improved version of the old 1861.
- They added this thing called a coaxial module, which apparently gives it a longer power reserve and makes it more accurate.
- The power reserve is improved by 2 hours, and it also prolonges the service time.
- Oh, and it’s also “META certified”, I don’t know how important it is, but it sounds good, haha.
I’ll be honest, most of that went over my head, but it sounded impressive. I was pretty much sold, but the price tag was giving me pause. Then I remembered a friend of mine got a replica, which made me think: what if I try one of these? Then, I found a guy that makes pretty decent copies, and I decided to give it a shot. The second-generation “First Omega in Space” (FOiS) sports details that will appeal to enthusiasts.
Long story short, I pulled the trigger. And man, let me tell you, this thing is a beauty. It looks and feels just like the real deal, at least to my untrained eye. The price I paid was around 7500 CHF, but I found a seller that offered me a better price. I wore it around for a few days, and I’ve gotten nothing but compliments. I might be on to something. It’s a decent starter watch to learn about the details and to build a culture in this area.
So, there you have it. My journey to getting a CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Moonwatch. Was it an impulse buy? Maybe. Do I regret it? Not one bit. This is a pretty good start to learning the details of watches. I think I’ll keep an eye out for more deals and keep on sharing with you all about my new hobby.
Stay tuned, folks. I’ve got a feeling this is just the beginning of my watch-collecting adventures.
