First off, what in tarnation is a YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL bag anyway? Sounds like somethin’ the city folk would carry, that’s for sure. From what I gather, it’s a posh purse, a real fancy one. Folks say it ain’t got much room inside, just flat like a pancake, not like them old accordion purses with all them pockets. But, it’s got that YSL name on it, and that, they say, is what you’re really payin’ for.
Now, these YSL bags, they ain’t cheap. Not one bit. City folk say you gotta pay a whole heap of money just ‘cause it’s got that YSL name stamped on it. They even say it can cost five times more just because of the name. Can ya believe that? Five times! That’s like payin’ five dollars for a penny candy! Folks also say that them bags are cheaper over in Europe, in Paris and such. Says they’re at least twenty percent cheaper. Twenty percent! That’s a good chunk of change, let me tell ya. And if you’re an American tourist, they say you can get even more money back, somethin’ called a VAT refund. Sounds complicated to me, but if it saves ya money, it can’t be all bad.
This fella named Anthony Vaccarello, he’s the one designin’ the stores now. Folks say he’s makin’ ‘em all modern lookin’, with concrete and marble and dark wood. Sounds cold to me, but I ain’t never been to Paris. Another fella, Hedi Slimane, he changed the name a while back. Used to be Yves Saint Laurent, now it’s just Saint Laurent Paris. He also made the bags look a bit more… edgy, they call it. More sharp and pointy, I guess.
Anyways, back to them bags. This LE CARRé SATCHEL, they make it in all sorts of fancy materials. Seen some talk about python leather, that’s snake skin, y’all. And they got somethin’ called BOX SAINT LAURENT, which I reckon is a special kind of leather too. They got all sorts of colors too, but the one they talk about most is black, I think. It’s a simple lookin’ bag, really. Just a square shape with a strap. But it’s got that YSL logo on it, and that’s what makes it fancy, I suppose.

- Now, where you gonna find these bags? Well, you ain’t gonna find ‘em at the local feed store, that’s for sure. You gotta go to them specialty stores, the ones that sell all them designer goods. They got ‘em in them big cities, like Paris and New York. And some say you can find ‘em online too, but I wouldn’t know nothin’ ‘bout that. I hear tell there’s “authorized retailers” and places where “fashion enthusiasts” go, but it all sounds like a bunch of hooey to me.

- Besides this LE CARRé SATCHEL, they got all sorts of other bags too. There’s this Nolita bag, and a Vicky bag, and somethin’ called a Cabas Rive Gauche Tote. Then there’s this Kaia crossbody bag, they say it’s good for everyday use. And another one called Le 5 a 7, which is supposed to be real “stunning and iconic” with a buckle strap. Too many names for this old lady to remember, I tell ya.

- Personally, I don’t see what all the fuss is about. A bag’s a bag, ain’t it? As long as it holds your stuff, that’s all that matters. But city folk, they like their fancy things. And if they wanna spend their hard-earned money on a YSL LE CARRé SATCHEL, well, that’s their business. Me, I’ll stick to my old canvas tote. It ain’t pretty, but it gets the job done.
