Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on one of those fancy Prada bags for a while, you know, the Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag. I finally decided, “Screw it, I’m gonna do it myself!”
First thing I did was to look it up online, you know, just to see what’s what. Found some info on it. Apparently, it’s called “Re-Edition 1995” because, get this, it’s based on a design from way back in 1995! Who knew, right?
Then I dug a bit deeper. Found out the product code is “1BC204_2AOS_F0002_V_QOO”. It’s made of this “Re-Nylon” stuff. Also it said it has a leather-threaded chain handle and a removable leather key ring.
- Scoured the internet for any sign of the real bag being in stock.
- No luck. “Out of stock” everywhere. Bummer.
But then I thought, “Hey, I’m crafty!” So, I started gathering materials. Found some black nylon fabric that looked pretty similar. This wasn’t easy, let me tell you. I went to like five different fabric stores!
Next, I needed a pattern. I couldn’t find an exact one for this bag, so I took a bunch of screenshots of the bag from different angles, and made my own. I studied the original Prada for a while. It seemed to be lightly padded. And then, I started cutting out the fabric.
I also made the chain handle. I am pretty proud of this one. I bought a silver chain and threaded some black leather through it. Looked pretty close to the real deal, if I do say so myself.
And the key ring? Made that too! Just a small piece of leather, but it adds to the whole look.
Putting it all together
This was the hardest part. I sewed the pieces together, and let me tell you, it took forever. I made a lot of mistakes along the way. But I didn’t give up! It was quite challenging because I need to hand stitch the top of the bag. I ripped it all out and started over a few times.
But finally, after hours and hours of work, it was done! My very own handmade Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag. It’s not perfect, but I’m really proud of it. And you know what? It looks pretty darn good!
It was way cheaper than buying the real thing! So, if you’re thinking about getting one of these bags, maybe try making it yourself first. It’s a lot of work, but it’s totally worth it in the end.
