I wanted to remake a Prada Tessuto Nylon Backpack, the one they sell at specialty stores. I saw one the other day and thought, “I could probably make that!” So, I started by gathering my materials.
First, I went and got some black Tessuto nylon fabric. It’s that special Prada stuff, you know, really strong and kind of shiny. Then I needed some cream-colored canvas for the straps. Seemed easy enough. I figured, I’d just sew it all together, right?
I started by cutting the nylon into the right shapes. I made a big piece for the main body, two smaller pieces for the sides, and another for the bottom. Then I cut out the pieces for the flap and the two front pockets. I used some gold buckles I found online because they looked just like the ones on the real Prada bag. They were not cheap, but you know, it had to be done.
Next, I sewed the main body pieces together. That wasn’t too hard. But then came the straps. I had to make them adjustable, so I used some extra nylon and some more of those gold buckles. It took some time, but I finally figured out how to make them work. Attaching the straps to the backpack was a bit tricky, I tried my best to make sure they were really secure.
Putting It All Together
- Sewing the Pockets: I sewed the two front pockets onto the front panel, and then attached the flap to the top.
- Adding the Lining: I wanted the inside to look nice too, so I cut out some black nylon lining and sewed it to the inside of the backpack.
- Final Touches: I found a small, silver-tone Prada triangle logo online and attached it to the front flap. I also added a flat handle made of Saffiano leather to the top of the backpack, just like the real one.
After a few days of work, I finally finished it! It looked pretty good, if I do say so myself. It wasn’t exactly like the one in the store, but it was close enough. Plus, it was a lot cheaper! I learned a lot about sewing and working with different materials. It was a fun project, and now I have a new backpack that’s kind of like a Prada, but made by me.
