So, I’ve been eyeing this Rolex GMT-Master II Root Beer Bezel for a while now. It’s a classic, and I finally decided to take the plunge. I did some research online, saw a few posts mentioning it was a big hit when it came out in 2018, and some people are calling it a revival of the old-school 1960s version. Whatever, it looks cool, and that’s all that matters to me.
First thing I did was hit up some online forums and places where people talk about watches. I’m not super into all the technical stuff, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t buying some cheap knock-off. I saw some people talking about reading reviews on Amazon, but I figured those might not be the best for something like this.
I started looking around at different places that sell watches online. It’s a bit overwhelming, to be honest. There are so many sites, and it’s hard to know which ones are legit. I saw one place that had the watch I wanted, and the pictures looked good. They said the bezel and crystal were in perfect condition, and it was dated 2023, so it seemed pretty new.
Digging Deeper
- I started looking at the details of the watch. It’s got this brown and gold bezel, which is what makes it the “Root Beer” version, I guess.
- The case is 40 mm, which is a good size for my wrist.
- It’s supposed to be waterproof up to 100 meters, which is cool, I guess, although I’m not planning on diving with it anytime soon.
I finally found a place that seemed trustworthy, and they had the watch in stock. The price was around $11, which is a lot, but I figured it’s a Rolex, so it’s going to be expensive. Plus, it’s an investment, right? That’s what I told myself, anyway.
Pulling the Trigger
I decided to go for it. I placed the order, and now I’m just waiting for it to arrive. It’s kind of nerve-wracking, spending that much money on something online, but I’m pretty sure I did my homework, so hopefully, everything will be fine. It was a 1991 Rolex GMT-Master II ‘ROOT BEER’ 18K Gold Steel Brown 40mm Watch 16713 and looks great.
Once it gets here, I’ll definitely post some pictures. I’m excited to finally have this watch on my wrist. It’s not just about telling time; it’s a statement piece, you know?
I think I did a pretty good job navigating the whole process. It’s definitely a learning experience, buying a luxury watch online. But I’m happy with my decision, and I can’t wait to show it off!
