Alright, so, a while ago I got this idea in my head. I wanted to remake the PRADA Cahier Bag, just for kicks, you know? I’ve always loved that bag, thought it was super classy and cool. This bag is a remake of a classic from ’95. It’s got that vintage vibe but with a modern twist.
So, I started by gathering all the stuff I needed. I already had some experience working with leather, so I had most of the tools. But the materials, that was a whole other story.
Finding the right leather was tough! I went to a bunch of stores, both online and in-person, looking for that perfect texture and color.
- Checked out some specialty stores.
- Compared different types of leather.
- Picked one that I felt matched the original bag’s vibe.
Once I had the leather, I started working on the design. The Cahier Bag has this unique, book-like look, and I wanted to get that just right.
Drafting and Cutting
Drew up a bunch of sketches, took a ton of measurements. Cut the leather very carefully, making sure all the pieces were the right size and shape. This part took forever, seriously.
Stitching and Assembling
Then came the stitching. Oh boy, was that a process. I hand-stitched most of it, which took hours and hours. But I wanted it to be sturdy and look authentic, so no shortcuts there. I also added some metal accents, like the corners and the clasp, to give it that classic PRADA look.
After all the pieces were stitched together, I assembled the whole bag. Seeing it come together was so satisfying. It looked amazing, if I do say so myself.
The final touch was adding the PRADA logo. I found a way to recreate it, and it looked pretty darn close to the real thing. Stuck that on, and boom, the bag was done.
It took me a few weeks, working on and off, but I finally finished it. And you know what? It turned out great! It’s not perfect, but it definitely has that PRADA Cahier vibe. Plus, it was a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way.
I’ve been using it as my everyday bag, and I get compliments all the time. People can’t believe I made it myself. It’s a cool feeling, for sure. Anyway, that’s my little project. Hope you all enjoyed the story!
