I started my journey by gathering all the parts I’d need. I made a list and carefully collected each piece.
Then, I looked up some old designs, especially those from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I wanted to see how things were made back then.
I remembered something about the “golden section” from ancient Greek mathematicians. It’s a special ratio, 1 / 1.6181, that’s supposed to be in a lot of famous art and buildings. So, I made sure to use that in my design.
I also found out that the Golden Ellipse used some super accurate quartz movements, like the 3770. It’s like a mix between the Nautilus and the Golden Ellipse, with these cool “ears” on the side.
With my design ready, I started putting the pieces together. It was like a big puzzle, but I took my time and made sure everything fit just right.
Here’s what I did:
- First, I put the main body together.
- Then, I added the movement, making sure it was secure.
- Next, I attached the dial and hands.
- Finally, I added the strap and made sure it was comfortable.
After all that work
I finally finished my watch! It might not be a real Patek Philippe, but I made it myself, and that’s pretty cool. It’s got that classic Golden Ellipse look, and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
